Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said he is ready for "sumpah laknat" or swear in the mosque to prove his innocence over the allegation that he wanted to topple the Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

He said he is ready to take the oath at any mosque in the country and challenged former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad to do the same.

Dr Mahathir had before this claimed that Ahmad Zahid had met him asking for support to become the next Prime Minister.

Ahmad Zahid also reiterated that he has a recording of the conversation between him and Dr Mahathir in 2015.

"I am ready to take the oath at any mosque, or even the sumpah laknat but he must also do the same. He was the one who planned it, not me," he said in his speech, referring to Dr Mahathir.

He said this at opening of UMNO Baling meeting at Dewan Kompleks Rakan Muda Batu 42 Pulai, Baling, today.

On Friday, Ahmad Zahid who is also the deputy prime minister denied of being part of any conspiracy to topple Najib.

Ahmad Zahid said he has a recording of the conversation in which Dr Mahathir had suggested that Najib be removed from office via vote of no confidence in the Parliament..
