The vote of no confidence against Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak need not be politicised to confuse the people, said Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Azalina Othman.

She said it has been the norm to give priority to government motions compared to private motions.

“Parliament members need not politicise issues if their private motion to the Parliament is not tabled,” she told BNBBC.my today.

Azalina, who is in charge of parliamentary affairs said consideration of any motion is subjected to Standing Order 15(1) which states that at every meeting, government motions are to be settled before others.

She was commenting on Petaling Jaya Selatan MP Lee Hoy San who had submitted a motion for a vote of no confidence against Najib.

“No 1 and 2 are government motions, No 3 to 6 are government bills (second reading), No 7 to 28 are private motions as listed in the Order of Business,” she said.

Azalina said Lee’s motion had been listed as the 25th order under the Dewan Rakyat’s Standing Orders and Motions.
