Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has called on both the Red Shirts and Bersih 5.0 to call off their rallies this Saturday as instructed by the Inspector General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar.

Ahmad Zahid who is also the Home Minister said police will not compromise and action will be taken against those who break the law.

"In my speech during the Budget, I had said action will be taken against both parties regardless of whether they are red or yellow. So to avoid this, both parties must stand down, which means call off the rally," he said.

He said police will not take sides in taking action.

He said both parties must not go against the police as authorities have issued the order not to hold the rallies.

"So, follow what the authorities say. I call on both parties to abide by what the IGP said,", he added.

Ahmad Zahid however, refused to comment on the recent video clip featuring former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad who had urged Malaysians to join the Bersih rally.

Bersih 5 is expected to be held this Saturday. Red Shirts team, led by Datuk Seri Jamal Yunos is also expected to hold a counter rally on the same day.
