KUALA LUMPUR:The government will provide a special micro credit financing scheme totalling RM95 million to empower women entrepreneurs in the country, Finance Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz announced today.

Tabling Budget 2021 in Parliament today, he said the financing would be channelled through TEKUN Nasional, Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) and AgroBank.

Tengku Zafrul said RM50 million would also be provided under the Malaysian Islamic Development Foundation (YaPEIM) to support Islamic financing activities through Ar-Rahnu BizNita.

“The support programme, especially for packaging and labeling, marketing strategy and business technical support, will be offered to more than 2,000 women entrepreneurs through the Micro Entrepreneur Business Development Programme (BizMe),” the minister said.

He said the government would also provide a programme particularly for Bumiputera women contractors to spur their participation in government contracts.
