KUALA LUMPUR: The UMNO Supreme Council (MT) must immediately press Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi to provide an explanation of DAP's allegation on the party's negotiations with Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Pakatan Harapan (PH).

Bakri UMNO division chief, Mohd Fuad Tukirin, stressed that the DAP's allegation was very serious and could affect the confidence of more than three million members in the party president.

He said it could cause UMNO to fall again in the 15th General Election (GE15).

"The highest authority in the UMNO hierarchy, the MT, should ask Ahmad Zahid to make the explanation before or during the UMNO General Assembly for the good and survival of the party.

"We do not want UMNO to lose again in the issue of DAP and Anwar. What is the point of us being political if the party we bring to contest loses the GE. This kind of issue will bring down UMNO again.

"It is clear that UMNO's doctrine is 'No DAP' because we do not know what the party's constitution and policies are. Voices have been raised in liaison meetings on this issue," he said in a statement on Tuesday.

On Monday, DAP National Political Education Bureau director Liew Chin Tong claimed that Anwar had had talks with Ahmad Zahid and former president Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

Chin Tong, who is also the former Deputy Defence Minister said this as a comment on the statement by PKR Organising Secretary Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad regarding the invitation to Anwar to bring PKR to join the 'Sheraton Move'.

Quoting a post on his blog, he said Nik Nazmi's statement was likely to remind DAP leaders to be 'grateful'.

Earlier, Sabak Bernam UMNO division head, Datuk Abd Rahman Bakri, said anyone including MT members and Ahmad Zahid could be punished if proven to cooperate with PKR and DAP.

He said this was in line with the ruling of the UMNO president and the MT itself which will not violate the party's policy of 'No DAP, No Anwar'.
