Police have appealed to members of the public not to make any speculations with regard to the case of PKR Miri branch secretary Bill Kayong who was shot dead in Miri this morning.

According to Sarawak Criminal Investigation Division (CID) Chief SAC Dev Kumar, the 43-year old victim was shot at about 8.30am, Tuesday.

"The victim was shot dead by an unknown person using a shotgun while he was waiting in his Toyota Hilux at a traffic light intersection in Lutong, Miri.

"We believe the victim was travelling from his home in Senadin, Miri and was heading to his office in Permyjaya, Miri," he said in a statement.

According to Dev Kumar, have classified the case as murder under Section 302 of the Penal Code.

"We are also appealing to members of the public to avoid speculating about the possible motives of the shooting," he said.

He also urged those who may have witnessed the shooting to come forward and assist the police in the investigation.

"The traffic light intersection is normally busy during that time of the morning and we believe many motorists may have witnessed the incident," said Dev Kumar.

The police also gave assurance that they will conduct their investigations into the murder thoroughly and will leave no stone unturned.
