KUALA LUMPUR:Pakatan Harapan (PH) leaders in Perak have been given the power to decide or make any suggestions regarding the political crisis in the state.

PH chairman, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the coalition has discussed the situation in the state and will continue to monitor the situation.

“We should monitor the development in Perak and discuss with the state leadership in Perak, namely DAP, PKR and Amanah and this is a very positive development.

"It once again reflects the inefficiency of the MB (Menteri Besar) and they must take action and measures," he said when met in Parliament on Monday.

When asked if Perak UMNO Liaison chairman Datuk Saarani Mohamad who was nominated as Menteri Besar was a good choice, Anwar stressed that they did not discuss the issue.

Astro AWANI on Monday reported that all UMNO State Assemblymen (ADUN) in Perak have by consensus proposed Kota Tampan ADUN, Saarani as the new Perak Menteri Besar candidate.

Rungkup Assemblyman, Datuk Shahrul Zaman Yahya informed the matter on his social media account.

At the same time, Shahrul Zaman hoped that no party would make any speculation or linked his name as a candidate for Menteri Besar.

Tonight, a special meeting of the UMNO Supreme Council will be held at Menara Dato Onn, World Trade Center (WTC) here.

The media understands that the meeting will be chaired by UMNO President, Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and is expected to focus on the situation of the formation of the new Perak government.

Meanwhile, Saarani also confirmed that he will attend the meeting.
