Telok Dato state assemblyman Loh Chee Heng has been expelled from DAP with immediate effect today, said state chairman Tony Pua, following the party’s decision to file a report against him regarding a case of alleged improprieties.

Pua who is also Petaling Jaya Utara Member of Parliament said in a statement today, the DAP Disciplinary Committee has notified DAP Selangor about the expulsion.

“DAP Selangor had earlier received complaints from its members of alleged improprieties carried out by Loh with regards to his constituency allocations.

“We have set up a sub-committee which has investigated the relevant complaints over the past 8 weeks.

“The findings of the sub-committee were presented to the DAP Disciplinary Committee,” Pua said.

At the same time, Pua added, based on the party’s findings, DAP Selangor had filed a report with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) for its further investigation.

The report was filed with MACC Selangor in Shah Alam on Wednesday, May 11, he said.

“DAP Selangor would like to reiterate the party’s commitment in upholding our core values in promoting good governance, integrity and accountability.

“We will not tolerate any actions by any of its leaders or members which betrays the trust of the people we seek to represent and destroy the credibility of the party,” Pua stressed in the statement.

Earlier today, DAP acting national chairman Tan Kok Wai said in another statement that the party had received a written complaint over Loh's alleged misuse of state funds in March and requested the Selangor DAP state committee to conduct an internal investigation.

"Following the disciplinary hearing today, during which Loh was given the opportunity to explain himself, the DAP disciplinary committee has concluded that there is evidence of serious misconduct by Loh and has unanimously decided to terminate his party membership with immediate effect," Tan said.
