Former Selangor Menteri Besar, Tan Sri Muhammad Muhammad Taib hoped that the grassroots of Pas can accept his entry into the party.

His reaction came after some of Pas grassroots questioning his past which full of controversy.

“We are not a Prophet, not a ‘khalifah’. Each one of us have their younger days and who’s not?,” said Muhammad to reporters at Pas Headquarters in Jalan Raja Laut.

He was at the headquarters to joined a press conference with Datuk Tamrin Ghafar.

He however, signed a joint-statement before left the building without answering any questions.

The scenario forced reporters to chase him to ask several questions and he was also asked whether his willingness on his controversial past use as general election campaign.

“I like to move forwards for our own good,” he said.

Muhammad was a Selangor Menteri Besar for 12 years since 1986 but was forced to resign as in April 1997 after he was charged in Australia over currency irregularities amounting to RM3.8mil.

Muhammad who served with UMNO since four decades ago has becoming inactive in politics after his lost for UMNO Deputy President candidacy in 2009.

His sudden admission into Pas came ahead in the midst of the tight political race between Barisan Nasional and Pakatan Rakyat in Selangor.
