KUALA LUMPUR: Six states are still affected by the floods as of 4pm today compared to seven this morning, with 2,701 victims still taking shelter at 46 relief centres.

The National Disaster Management Agency (NADMA) in a statement today informed that the floods involved 15 districts in the states of Perak, Selangor, Melaka, Johor, Kelantan and Sarawak.

"As of 4pm today the water level readings of four rivers namely Long Jegan, Long Teru, Marudi in Miri and Sebauh in Bintulu, Sarawak were at dangerous level according to the Department of Irrigation and Drainage (DID)," read the statement.

NADMA also informed that the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has also issued a significant weather advisory for the period Nov 20 to 26, based on the analysis of weather forecasting models.

"According to the analysis, wind concentration is expected to occur in Peninsular Malaysia during the period Nov 20 until 24, and this situation has the potential to cause the formation of a squall line that brings with it thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds in the peninsular states," Nadma said in the statement.


In addition, the Public Works Department (JKR) at 2pm today reported of flooding at seven locations, occurrence of six slope collapse, two road collapse and damage of two bridges.

"These incidents which occurred in Kedah, Perak, Johor, Kelantan, Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, Terengganu and Pahang involved nine federal roads and eight state roads," the statement added.
