The National Disaster Management Agency (APBN) will ensure that the supply of food and essential items for victims of the mudslide at KM52.4 of the Kuala Lumpur-Karak Highway is sufficient.

Minister in the Prime Minister's Department, Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim said the victims should therefore not be unduly worried over food supply shortage.

"This is due to the continuous food contribution from outsiders, apart from Bentong UMNO.

"We will ensure that the victims will receive sufficient food supply and other necessities and also good treatment," he told reporters after visiting the mudflood victims at the Lentang mosque, here, Friday.

Sixty-seven victims comprising occupants of the Pahang Forestry Department quarters and residents of several affected areas are being sheltered at the relief centre.

The mudslide near Lentang-Bukit Tinggi at 6.30pm on Wednesday caused a section of the highway to be impassable in both directions.

No casualties were reported in the incident.
