Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) Wanita chief Zuraida Kamarudin slammed Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng for labelling state opposition leader Datuk Jahara Hamid as racist grandmother.

She said the sexist remark was unbecoming of a chief minister.

"Lim was emotional when he was talking and it (the words) slipped out. Men must understand that issues touching on gender are sensitive.

"We have never dubbed a male leader as grandfather," she told reporters after a meeting with state PKR Wanita members here Saturday.

She said essentially, the matter should not have happened and that she did not agree with Lim's action.

Zuraida, who is also Ampang MP, urged Lim to be more cautious before making such statements in future.

Lim had called Jahara a racist grandmother when she allegedly raised an issue by claiming that the DAP-led Penang Government only took action against Malay traders.
