The Kuala Lumpur Federal Territory Education Department did not received any official application from DAP to use the SRJK (C) Chung Kwo hall for the memorial service of former Bukit Gelugor Member of Parliament, Karpal Singh.

The department in a statement Friday was commenting on a news report, 'DAP upset school hall denied for Karpal's memorial service,' published in an English language daily on Thursday.

In the report, DAP acting national chairman Tan Kok Wai was quoted to have said the Education Ministry had rejected the party's application to use the school hall because it was considered as a political event.

Karpal Singh, 74, and his personal assistant Michael Cornelius died in a road accident at Km306.1 of the North-South Expressway near Gua Tempurung in Kampar on April 17.
