KUALA LUMPUR:The government through the Ministry of Health (MOH) has outlined five strategy plans to address the COVID-19 pandemic for phase 2.0 of the Movement Control Order (MCO 2.0).

Senior Minister (Defence Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the five plans cover efforts to control and break the chain of viral infections.

Here are the five strategies that have been outlined:

1) Break the transmission chain

2) Reduce morbidity and death

3) Strengthen diagnostics and surveillance

4) Achieving herd immunity

5) Increase awareness and new normal cultivation

Meanwhile, Ismail Sabri said the National Security Council (MKN) also outlined the government's strategy in facing the COVID-19 pandemic, including the management of the economic sector in the MCO 2.0 phase.

There are 10 strategies that have been outlined, namely:

• Legal action through emergency ordinance: Strengthening enforcement

• Employee residence management: Employee accommodation task force

• Workplace SOP compliance: Aggressive monitoring

• Comprehensive Compliance Monitoring: Government agencies’ flying squad

• Implement aggressive screening program

• ABC-19 Squad (Eradicate COVID-19 agent): The role of community volunteers

• Public sector temporary placement: Empowering pandemic management support agencies

• National COVID-19 immunization program

• Use of technology: Strengthening health actions

• Action Implementation Inspection: Ensuring implementation
