KUALA LUMPUR:Several sectors will begin to open in phases starting January 1, 2021, including the tourism, culture, sports and recreation sectors.

Here are five important points in the press conference of the Senior Minister of Defence, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob on Friday, 18 December 2020:

1)      The sports and recreation sector that will be opened must follow the SOP based on the location of the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) or Recovery MCO (RMCO). Among those that will start to open is the local football tournament.

2)      For the tourism sector, the allowable visitor capacity is 50 per cent of the actual capacity. For the sports sector in the RMCO areas, only 10 per cent of spectators are allowed, or for venues of any size, only a maximum of 4,000 spectators are permitted. For CMCO areas, no spectators are allowed.

3)      CMCO in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor is extended until December 31, except for Sabak Bernam, Kuala Selangor and Hulu Selangor, where CMCO has ended.

4)      For Christmas celebrations, prayer ceremonies are allowed in CMCO and RMCO areas on December 24 and 25. The tradition of visiting is only allowed on December 25.

5)      Visiting activities must not exceed 20 visitors while the prayer ceremony at houses of worship should be done in two sessions, according to the SOPs set.
