KUALA LUMPUR:The people have been asked to stay calm, not panicking and avoid speculating on the current situation in the country, following the meeting of Yang Di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah with Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin yesterday.

Al-Sultan Abdullah said that he was willing to hold talks with the Malay Rulers in the near future to discuss and study the proposals put forward by Muhyiddin at the meeting yesterday.

"Al-Sultan Abdullah advised all the people to calm down, not panic and be patient in facing this latest situation while waiting for the decision on the proposals.

"All the people are also advised not to make any speculations that could cause confusion and anxiety and threaten the peace of the country we love together," said the Comptroller of the Royal Household, Istana Negara Datuk Indera Ahmad Fadil Shamsuddin in a statement here on Saturday.

Yesterday evening, Al-Sultan Abdullah granted the Prime Minister an audience at Istana Abdul Aziz, Kuantan.

The audience was sought by the Prime Minister following the Special Meeting of the Cabinet which he chaired in Putrajaya in the morning.

Regarding the sudden increase in the daily positive cases of COVID-19 and the existence of several new clusters in the country, Al-Sultan Abdullah reiterated his advice so that the people continue to play their respective roles.

They were also reminded to be disciplined in complying with the standard operating procedures (SOPs) and new common practice procedures to curb the transmission of the coronavirus.

It is important in helping the authorities fight COVID-19 for the safety of themselves and the community, His Majesty said.

Al-Sultan Abdullah also called on all the people to join him in praying that Malaysia will always be blessed and protected from all forms of threats, as well as the spread of COVID-19 can be effectively eradicated and ended immediately.
