Pakatan Harapan's name will remain the same at the moment despite calls from Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) leaders for a change of name for the opposition coalition.

DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng said the name, Pakatan Harapan would remain as even PPBM, the new members in the opposition coalition and its chairman, former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad had accepted the name.

"The matter will be discussed at the secretariat, whether 'yes' or 'no' for a (name) change but as of now, it will remain as Pakatan Harapan," he told reporters here today.

However, Lim, who is also Penang chief minister lauded the move by Pakatan Harapan to name its parliamentary opposition leader Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail and Dr Mahathir as advisers in its pro-tem committee.

He said the appointment was to project a sense of unity image as the two of them would be the main personalities and symbol in Pakatan Harapan.

It was reported earlier, that Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) communications director Khalid Samad had announced a decision to form an 18-member Harapan pro-tem committee was made at the Harapan presidential council meeting on Monday.

Of the 18 members, 16 (pro-tem members) are equally divided among the four parties while two special positions are given to Dr Wan Azizah and Dr Mahathir.
