All three Umno vice-presidents concurred on the need for the young generation to be given more rooms and opportunities in Umno to ensure the party continues to remain relevant.

Commenting on the speech by Deputy President Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin at the simultaneous opening of the Wanita, Youth and Puteri Umno assemblies at the Putra World Trade Centre Tuesday, the vice-presidents agreed that it had to be implemented to ensure Umno continued to be strong.

Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein said what was mentioned by Muhyiddin in his speech was a reality and it was crucial that party members realised the need for them to sacrifice for the party to achieve greater heights.

"It is a speech which is transparent and honest, realistic and full of hope that through this assembly, we can place Umno's struggle on the right track.

"It is important for us to rise with a new spirit. I am touched by the speech, which is not only to make us happy or give us special treatment, but a reality check for Umno," he added.

As for Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal, he regarded Muhyiddin's speech as a reminder for the young people that Umno always gave them room to join the party, as well as to lead the party with the existing leaders.

"A good reminder for the young people, the young fighters in Umno. If we fail to encourage the young people to be involved with the party, it will be hazardous to Umno's struggle," he added.

Meanwhile, Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the speech was timely.
