A woman was found stabbed to death on a roadside near the flats at Jalan Hospital, Kampar, Wednesday evening.

Kampar police chief Supt Ng Kong Soon said the 61-year-old victim, identified as Loo Chee Mun was found stabbed six times.

Passers-by discovered her body lying face down and covered in blood.

Ng said initial investigations reveal that the victim might have been stabbed by a suspect near the stairs at the flats. He said the victim had tried to get help before falling unconscious.

He said the suspect is believed to have owed money to the victim and the two were believed to have been involved in an argument before the incident happened.

"The victim was found with stab wounds to the left ribs and neck area. We are still looking for the murder weapon in the murder," he told reporters at the scene.

He said police are hunting for the suspect, a Chinese male.

The body was sent to Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital in Ipoh for post-mortem.
