The Malaysia government must use all diplomatic and economic channels to help alleviate the sufferings of Palestinian under Israeli offensive in Gaza, urged UMNO Youth.

Its deputy head Khairul Azwan Harun said the political party strongly condemns the attacks on Palestinians, especially during the holy month of Ramadan.

“We ask that the government, through the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and maybe, the United States, to pressure the Israeli government.”

“We are prepared to volunteer in any humanitarian mission by the government, in particular through UMNO itself,” he said after a solat hajat ceremony for Gaza at the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC).

On Thursday, reporter and activist Omar Ghraieb said the death toll on the second day of the Israeli military operations in Gaza has reached 72, with more than 500 injured.

Meanwhile, media agency AFP reported that 70 were killed.

Khairul Azwan, during the ceremony, urged party members across the country to perform solat hajat at their respective areas and to pray for peace for Gaza.

“We know that there has been pressure on the Israelis in recent years but the Zionist regime is heartless. UMNO Youth will continue to support the government in exerting diplomatic pressure.”

Khairul Azwan also called Malaysians to gather in PWTC after the Friday prayers (July 11) to support the Palestinian cause and condemn the Israel offensive in Gaza.
