A Special Branch Counter Terrorism Unit will be set up at all state police contingents nationwide to monitor and counter the Daish militant activities.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Kalid Abu Bakar said a total of 100 personnel, including officers, from the Bukit Aman Special Branch Counter Terrorism division will be absorbed to the state police contingents for the purpose.

The number would be increased if the need arose, he told a media conference after the Police Day parade at Pulapol here today.

He said the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) had been given the allocation for the purpose.

In a related development, Khalid said the Regional Digital Counter-Messaging Communications Centre (RDC3) would begin operation on April 1 Bukit Aman.
