Indonesian DJ duo Diskoria is set to share the stage with Malaysian jazz queen Datuk Sheila Majid at the 'A Time Travel Diskoria with Special Guest Sheila Majid' concert at Zepp Kuala Lumpur here on June 14.

Acknowledging their excitement about the collaboration, Diskoria - comprising Merdi Simanjuntak and Fadli Aat - is determined to deliver an exciting performance for their fans in Malaysia.

"We have always hoped for this (collaboration with Sheila) and we are truly grateful for this opportunity because Sheila's song 'Sinaran' is very popular in Indonesia.

"... when we were told we would be performing with her, it felt like a dream come true," said Merdi Simanjuntak during a press conference here recently to announce the concert.

He added they never tire of performing concerts in Kuala Lumpur because of the warm reception from their fans here.

"This (concert in June) is Diskoria's third concert in Malaysia, but it is the first time involving a collaboration with a local artiste. Honestly, we are very excited to return to Kuala Lumpur.

"Since our first single, we have received many comments from Malaysians asking us to come here. So, we always want to come to Malaysia because we have many fans here," he said.

The 80's disco-themed concert will see the pioneers of Indonesian local music perform songs such as 'Badai Pasti Berlalu', 'Balada Insan Muda', 'Pelangi Cinta' and 'Serenata Jiwa Lara'. Meanwhile, Sheila is expected to perform Diskoria's hit songs as well as her own, blending disco, funk and retro pop music for the first time.

The 90-minute concert, organised by MYdeteksi in collaboration with Sembang Kari Entertainment and Tourism Malaysia, will also feature the band Jemput Dengar as the opening act.

MYdeteksi creative director Shafika Mazlan said Sheila's special performance in the concert will bring a unique element to Diskoria's presentation.

"Diskoria has held two concerts here previously, so we wanted something different this time. We approached Sheila and, surprisingly, she agreed to join us in making this concert a success," she said.

Tickets for the concert are priced at RM165, RM220 and RM320, and they can be purchased online at www.myticket.asia.
