Police clarified that a total of seven homemade bombs were found in this morning's raid at the Metropolitan Square in Damansara Perdana, as opposed to the five initially reported.

This was confirmed by Petaling Jaya district police chief, ACP Mohd Zani Che Din.

Meanwhile, KL CID chief, SAC Zainuddin Ahmad said the raid was done following a report lodged on a crime that occurred in Jalan Wan Empok in Sri Petaling here around 1.30am today.

The suspects who fled from the raid in Damansara Perdana had apparently caused injury to a despatch.

Police are now seeking a couple, Ng Woon Chieh or Ah Chong, 37, who has a previous drug record, and Chow How Luen, 39.

According to Zainuddin, the suspects, together with another individual, had placed a bomb-like object in the victim's room and beat him up until the victim knocked out.

The 48-year-old victim, who was with his family when they were rescued by authorities, suffered burns on his left shoulder and wounds from being handcuffed.

The motive for the assault is still being investigated.

Earlier, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the discovery of the bombs had nothing to do with terrorism.

He said based on initial investigations, police believed that the bombs were to be used in a criminal activity involving several individuals.

Ahmad Zahid, who is also Home Minister, said national security is still under control and assured the public that the police are fully prepared to face any possibilities.

The case is being investigated under the Explosives Act 1957.
