Three 'enterprising' burglars failed to cart away an automated teller machine (ATM) at a petrol station in Kampung Baru Subang, Sungai Buloh early this morning after being jolted by the alarm.

Sungai Buloh district police chief Supt Junaidi Bujang said in the incident at 4.30 am, the trio wearing ski masks, gloves and black jackets and armed with machetes had come in a lorry.

He said the CCTV mounted at the outlet showed that the suspects had broken into the premises by reversing the lorry into the front entrance.

"They tied the ATM machine located inside the premises, to the lorry and tried to drive out.

"As they reached the front door the alarm started ringing and they hastily fled in the lorry," he said in a statement here today.

According to him, the suspects also coerced two workers who were manning the station at the time to surrender the outlet's takings of RM1,500 cash and a handphone.
