Social media reports on Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin withdrawing from the Cabinet were mere 'political fiction' created by certain parties, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak said.

He said his relationship and understanding with Muhyiddin was "very good".

"As Deputy Prime Minister, Muhyiddin has always supported and uphold all policies and agenda pertaining to my national transformation plans," Najib said in a statement today.

He said as UMNO deputy president and Barisan Nasional (BN) deputy chairman, Muhyiddin has always been with him in his efforts to strengthen and improve the party and coalition.

"This is a continuous effort and a lot more needs to be done by me with his help," he added.

Najib believed that the good ties between him and Muhyiddin will not just overcome all challenges in developing the nation but also boost people's trust in the leadership of the BN government.

Yesterday, Muhyiddin had affirmed that he would continue to serve as Najib's deputy for as long as his service was needed.

His comments came following reports on several blogs and social media recently which claimed that he would be stepping down from Cabinet to focus on UMNO.
