IPOH: The number of flood victims in two districts in Perak dropped further this evening with only 241 people from 66 families still being housed at three temporary relief centres (PPS) compared to 257 people from 69 families, this morning.

According to a Perak Disaster Management Committee spokesman, the number of flood victims at the PPS in Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Matang in the Larut, Matang and Selama district dropped to 70 people from 23 families compared to 76 people from 24 families this morning.

"In the Krian district, the number of flood victims at the PPS in Sekolah Kebangsaan Alor Pongsu remained the same as this morning, namely, 60 people from 17 families.

"Similarly, at the PPS in SK Changkat Lobak, the number of victims remained at 111 people from 26 families like this morning," he said in a statement.

Meanwhile, in the Kampar district, the PPS at the Kampung Batu 20 Multi-purpose Hall was closed at 1 pm after all evacuees were allowed to return home.

In the meantime, the Malaysian Meteorological Department tweeted that thunderstorms and heavy rains occurring over several states such as Perlis, Kedah and Perak were expected to persist until later today.
