SEREMBAN: The Negeri Sembilan Department of Wildlife and National Parks (Perhilitan) has set a trap in Kampung Paya Lebar, Sungai Pilin, Rembau following sightings of a crocodile at the river.

Its director, Wan Mat Wan Harun said the trap was laid two days ago after receiving complaints from residents about a two-metre-long crocodile found roaming in the area.

He also received similar complaints from residents of Kampung Sawah Raja, Rembau regarding the matter, which had gone viral on Facebook, yesterday.

"We also advise the public not to panic and to immediately report to the authorities if they see crocodiles in their area," he said when contacted by Bernama today.

A picture of the saltwater crocodile in the Kampung Sawah Raja river went viral after being posted on the Facebook account of 'Zainurin Zakaria', who also warned nearby residents to be more vigilant.

Meanwhile, Wan Mat said the two locations at the river were known to be among the crocodile habitats located near Sungai Timun, Lubuk China, Rembau.
