KUALA LUMPUR:A total of 196 individuals were arrested for flouting the Movement Control Order (MCO) yesterday, said Senior Defence Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

He said all of them were compounded on Wednesday which was also the 275th day of MCO and the 19th day of Recovery MCO (RMCO).

"The offences include failing to provide equipment to record customer details (88), not wearing face masks (86), failing to comply with physical distancing instructions (eight) and others (14).

"The Ops Benteng has successfully detained 59 illegal immigrants (PATI) and seized three land vehicles.

"A total of 39 sanitation operations conducted include 13 Red Zones, one Orange Zone, 14 Yellow Zones and one Green Zone involving 10 states," he said in a statement on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Ismail Sabri said that from July 24 to December 16, a total of 87,522 individuals have returned to the country through the international border entrance.

A total of 9,004 were undergoing compulsory quarantine while 532 individuals were sent to hospital for treatment besides 77,986 individuals were deported.

"They have returned from 36 countries, namely the Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia, Cambodia, Singapore, Vietnam, Brunei, Laos, Qatar, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Hong Kong, India, UAE, Japan, Turkey, South Korea, Iran, Nepal and Bangladesh.

"Besides that, they are also from Myanmar, Timor Leste, Taiwan, China, UK, Netherlands, Papua New Guinea, Egypt, Spain, France, Australia, New Zealand, the United States, Ethiopia, Maldives and Oman," he said.

He added that inspections carried out also found 22 of the 24 construction sites complied with the standard operating procedures (SOP) set while two other construction sites were not operational.

Meanwhile, only one of the 705 premises inspected by the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP) enforcement officers was found to have not complied with the prescribed SOP.
