KUALA LUMPUR: Below is a media statement by the Malaysia Consultative Council of Islamic Organizations on the current development in Uttar Pradesh.

WE CONDEMN strongly the recent demolition of several Muslim's houses in India's Uttar Pradesh state.

We also express our outrage on the Indian police brutal response who shot dead two protesters and arrested more than 130 others during street rallies reported on the 11th June when police fired on a crowd in the eastern Indian city of Ranchi.

The authorities have demolished the homes of several people accused of involvement in riots last week triggered by derogatory remarks made by ruling party figures about Islam's Prophet Mohammad.

Muslims have taken to the streets across India in recent weeks to protest against the anti-Islamic comments by two members of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Hindu nationalist Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

We strongly protest on the belittling of the Prophet and in no way can be tolerated by Muslims anywhere in the world.

The reason for the demolition was the allegation of the houses were illegally enacted and they were houses of those who participated in the street protest against the denigration of the Prophet.

The BJP government is pursuing a policy of dealing the protest in a high-handed way.

This is the latest instance of pressure and humiliation under BJP rule on issues ranging from freedom of worship to the wearing of hijab head scarves.

House demolitions seems to be the way the BJP government is taking to punish and suppress Muslims in India for protesting against anti Islamic campaign by nationalist right wing Hindu groups.

India is replicating the Israel policy of dealing with Palestinian resistance by demolition of houses.

The operation to cleanse Muslims from their homes and so rid Muslim's existence in India is now becoming the national agenda of BJP and its supporters amongst the right wing RSS and VHP groups.

We call for an immediate stop to the anti-Muslim campaign in India.

The Muslims should stand united and we call for restrain from any violent actions.

If the anti-Islam agenda persist by the BJP government, we call for all Muslim nations to stage a boycott against India.
