SEREMBAN: The increase in the internet and broadband coverage through the implementation of the National Digital Network (JENDELA) initiative in rural areas in Negeri Sembilan has shown a positive impact on the people's economic development and facilitated home-based teaching and learning (PdPR) method.

Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) Negeri Sembilan director, Mohd Khairilnaim Osman, said through the implementation of phase one of the JENDELA until December last year, 56 new towers had been completed, 1,088 transmitter stations were upgraded to 4G network and 91,722 premises statewide have fixed fibre optics broadband connectivity.

Mohd Khairilnaim said the MCMC was fully committed to creating more sustainable and quality digital connectivity for the well-being of consumers and economic development in the state, thus achieving the set target of 96.9 per cent 4G coverage nationwide in the fourth quarter of this year.

This is evidenced by the implementation of JENDELA, which has facilitated the increase in digital economy activities for homestay operator, Mohd Raihan Ibrahim, who is also the owner of Aqoffee, a coffee shop, located in Kampung Siliau Hilir, in Rantau.

Mohd Raihan Ibrahim, 52, said his Aqoffee shop became viral on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram through the sharing of customers and 'influencers' who came to his shop, further boosting his business.
