KUALA LUMPUR:The coalition parties in Perikatan Nasional (PN) including Pas and Umno cannot “go it alone” to face the next General Election (GE).

Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) deputy president, Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu, said that if any party chooses not to cooperate, it seems to 'gift' victory to the opposition.

In this regard, Ahmad Faizal, who is also the Menteri Besar of Perak, stressed that it is important for the parties to continue to maintain the cooperation that has been established.

"If they or we go to the polls alone, then I think it is like gifting the leadership of the government we are leading now to the opposition.

"So, all leaders understand that the need to work together is far more important, greater in value and meaning rather than to follow the will of exaggerating our party over other parties," he said in an interview in the Buletin AWANI Khas on Friday.

Commenting further, the Tambun Member of Parliament said Bersatu is aware that each party may want a large distribution of seats in an area when it comes to the elections.

However, Ahmad Faizal explained that the matter needs to be sacrificed because the priority is to ensure the support and leadership of the government at this time continues to be given the mandate to govern.

Meanwhile, using the marriage analogy, Ahmad Faizal said that marriages that take place in PN must have advantages and disadvantages.

Although sometimes there are difficulties, he said, they accepted the challenge and solved it as best they can.

"I think it is not easy to govern a government, I as Menteri Besar have six exco members from Umno, two from Pas and two more from Bersatu.

"So, we work as a team but at the same time, of course there are demands from a party but in the end I think this demand, even if not working with Umno and Pas, it will come from the public as well," he added.
