So far, 267 police reports have been lodged on stomping on the posters of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak and PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang during the recent Bersih 4 rally.

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said four people had been identified as the culprits but more suspects were expected to be detained.

"Action (against them) is on the way. Please respect the leaders. Differences of opinion must not lead to insults and stomping on the posters of leaders.

"It is a blessing in disguise because now UMNO and PAS can act collectively against those involved," he said when opening the Masjid Tanah UMNO division delegates' meeting here today.

He stressed that the police would not be issuing anymore warnings to organisers of illegal rallies as they had disrupted the long-standing unity and harmony among the people.

Ahmad Zahid, who is also Home Minister, said police would take stern action not only against the rally organisers but also the participants who flouted the law.

"After this, don't be angry with the police, Home Ministry and the government but be angry at yourself.

"Although the Peaceful Assembly Act allows for assemblies to be held, the locations must be gazetted (to hold public rallies) or action awaits the flouters.

"This is a democratic country, so do it the democratic way. Like I've already mentioned, the rally organisers will not escape the long arms of the law."
