The championship, dubbed ‘Warrior Spirit’ will be held in Stadium Putra in Bukit Jalil on Nov 15, comprising of nine bouts of various weight titles.
Malaysian favourite Peter Davis said he expects the fight to be a well-rounded fight.
Davis, who lost to Hong Kong’s Eddie Ng in the previous ONE FC championship in Singapore, told Astro AWANI that he will try as much to keep the fight standing up rather than on the ground – not to repeat the same mistake he did with Ng.
He lost to Ng by submission in the first round via an arm bar after being kicked and punched twice in the face.
“Eddie had a good team behind him. My big mistake was in the beginning, I threw a kick just to see his reaction but his reaction was he kicked back pretty hard and punched me in face twice quite hard until I was in a double vision state,” said Davis commenting about his lost.
However, Davis is very much back on feet this time despite having only three weeks gap from his previous fight.
“For my upcoming fight, I expect it to be a rather well-rounded one. I’m going to try keep it standing up and thrilled to be fighting in Malaysia, representing Malaysia against another national country... and we’re going to rock the stadium,” he said.
When asked whether he’s prepared for the fight, Davis swiftly said, “Of course!” Davis is a Wuji Chuan exponent and the MMA face in Malaysia.
Along with being the top Lightweight in Malaysia, he is also a prominent celebrity with a long list of modeling and acting roles to his name.
Davis consistently finishes his opponents in impressive fashion and he will be looking to use his lanky frame and significant reach advantage.
Another rising and young MMA prospect, Nik Harris is confident that he will win the fight against Indonesia’s Zuli Silawanto next month.
“I have a very high chance. My friend asked how the fight’s going to end, I told him the fight’s going to end with my hand raised and me smiling like a fool,” he cheerfully said.
On his expectations, Nik foresees the fight to be a ‘brutal and violent’ exchange of blows happening in the cage.
“It’s going to be brutal, it’s going to be violent. I promise a stoppage but I don’t know what round... I aim it for the first round. Even if it doesn’t come I will actively look for a stoppage with everything I got... elbows, knees, punches, kicks, everything,” said Nik who is also known as ‘The Bloodhound’.
Meanwhile, another young MMA prospect from Penang, Chen Yun Ting said he is also looking forward for the tournament.
“I'm excited but nervous at the same time as it’s a big challenge for me,” said the 24-year-old Chen who will be facing another Malaysian fighter, Gianni Subba.
