Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia has promised to review the application by Pakatan Rakyat to allow Opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to attend parliament proceedings.

Mohamed Azmin Ali (PKR-Gombak) said the matter was stated by Pandikar when he called on the Speaker for the first time in his capacity as Selangor Menteri Besar at the latter's office in parliament here, today.

"The Speaker said that he will review the decision to allow Anwar to attend parliament proceedings and will make a stand at the appropriate time.

"I raised the matter because the Speaker made a statement that Anwar is still a member of parliament and the Opposition leader," he said.

Anwar is serving a five years' jail sentence in Sungai Buloh Prison for sodomising his former aide, Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan, in 2008.

His attempts to get permission to attend parliament proceedings was rejected by the Prisons Department under Section 31(1)(a) of the Prison Act 1995.
