PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang on Sunday refuted a claim that he planned to form a unity government with Barisan Nasional (BN).

Describing the claim as unfounded, Abdul Hadi said PAS' cooperation with BN was only in matters of national and public interest.

"PAS joined BN in the 1970s and it will not be repeated. The cooperation with BN is in matters like addressing crime and economic issues.

"A unity government was mooted in 2008 but there was disagreement and so it did not happen," he told reporters after attending a Dewan Muslimat Hi-Tea event here.

Abdul Hadi was commenting on the claim by former PAS vice-president Datuk Husam Musa that he planned to form a unity government with BN in Selangor.
