Former information minister Tan Sri Zainuddin Maidin said the real reason for DAP to label Selangor Menteri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim as a traitor for not giving up his position voluntarily is because he cannot be ‘bribed’.

In his latest blog posting, Zainuddin said the current political crisis in Selangor over the MB position is because Khalid is not ‘politically savvy’ and has disappointed those eyeing the state’s financial resources.

“The answer is very simple and does not need deep analysis. The biggest giver of bribe in this country are the Chinese and this is the culture in MCA and DAP,” he wrote in zamkata.blogspot.com.

He said Malays did not have a lot of money to be given away as bribes and added that they are also too ashamed to do so among them.

He said the Chinese businessmen in DAP expected money-making opportunities from Abdul Khalid but he had proved to be a man difficult to be ‘bought over’.

“Abdul Khalid is a professional who is difficult to be bribed or manipulated and this has disappointed them,” he wrote.

He also said Abdul Khalid does not play politics well and this is why he is unpopular when he was in UMNO.

Zainuddin claimed that DAP support Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) president Datuk Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail as the Menteri Besar candidate as they felt Abdul Khalid has no use to the DAP.

"DAP supports Dr Wan Azizah to be the next Selangor MB as they think she can be easily manipulated to disburse the state’s financial resources for political gains," he wrote

“PAS who dreams for a clean government does not understand why Anwar wants to replace Abdul Khalid with his wife since he is the one who speaks out for fight against corruption, crony and others,” he added.

Recently, PKR de facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced the Opposition Pact Leadership Council had accepted PKR's proposal to replace Abdul Khalid and to nominate PKR president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail to fill the post.

However, PAS President Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang and PAS spiritual leader Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat had thrown their support behind Abdul Khalid and want him to remain as the MB.
