Sarawak Chief Minister and state Barisan Nasional chairman Tan Sri Adenan Satem today announced the names of five more BN candidates for the 11th state election, bringing the number of the coalition's candidates announced to 74.

Five candidates from the BN-friendly are from the United People’s Party (UPP) who will represent the ruling party as “direct candidates” for the election.

They are Datuk Sri Wong Soon (Bawang Assan), Datuk Tiong Thai King (Dudong), Datuk Hii Kong Chiong (Pujut), Ranum Mina (Opar) and Datuk Dr Jerip Susi (Mambong).

They will join the ranks as six UPP candidates to contest in their respective constituencies.

Last week, Adenan who is also the Sarawak BN chief named Dr Johnical Rayong as candidate for Engkili state assembly seat.

Previously the Sarawak United People's Party (SUPP)’s offshoot voiced their intention to have candidates fielded in some of the SUPP-contested seats of the 2011 state election.

At the press conference, Adenan also announced the 12th candidate from SUPP, Pau Chiong Ung which will contest at Tanjung Batu seat.

Eight seats from Bakalalan, Krian, Meradong, Pakan, Meluan, Pelawan, Katibas and Tasik Biru have yet to be announced.
