Despite failing the last three times, motivational speaker and author Billi Lim Peng Soon still intends to try his luck again in the 13th General Election.

Lim, 63, plans to contest as an independent candidate in Kelana Jaya parliament seat, promising change and uplifting the quality of life of the residents there.

“The issues I want to bring up if I am chosen as a wakil rakyat is to reduce the price of houses and cars as these are the main burden of the people as a whole,” Lim told Astro AWANI in an interview.

The international motivational guru, well known for his “Dare to Fail” book series, expressed confidence on being able to challenge both the Barisan Nasional (BN) or Pakatan Rakyat candidate in Kelana Jaya.

“I believe this year I can win if I stand in the Kelana Jaya parliament seat,” said Lim, who lost his deposits, amounting to at least RM30,000, the past three times he contested.

However, this time around, he said that he has learnt alot from his experience, and declared: “I don’t want to lose my deposit this time. I will work hard to win,” he said.

Lim first contested in the Bukit Bintang seat in 1999 and 2004 but lost with only 198 and 132 votes, respectively.

However, in 2008, he contested in Kelana Jaya and successfully garnered 1,895 votes, an achievement that he said gave him hope and confidence to contest again this election.

In the 2008 election, PKR candidate Loh Gwo Burne won the Kelana Jaya seat with 30,296 votes while his BN contender, Datuk Lee Hwa Beng received 25,267 votes.
