The National Dialogue Series with an aim to map out the direction of the country in parallel of the National Transformation 2050 (TN50) is not a political programme.

Youth and Sports Minister, Khairy Jamaluddin Abu Bakar said the views by the rakyat especially from the youth must be considered in ensuring the success of the vision.

“If we are governed by the different government and leaders in 2050, the process comes from concerted effort involving the rakyat.

“So, the government should not discount the aspiration of the rakyat, which I believe is not political at all,” said Khairy at a media conference here on Friday.

Khairy, who is the Rembau member of parliament said he is serious in getting the views of the 1.5 million youths in the country.

Without taking into consideration religious, race or religion background, the views will be developed, modified documented before the Act is passed.

“We will take into considerations all views. We don’t want to take any action towards any constructive views although it shows the weakness in the existing system.

“But, if we waste time, form any views that are damaging or malicious, a proposition of such nature cannot be controlled,” he explained.

He also added that TN50 is a continuation of Vision 2020 and it is the responsibility of the government to continue the vision in ensuring the country’s progress for the next 30 years.

“The problem we face today, we will try to resolve through various programmes and initiatives.

“It doesn’t necessarily mean that we are looking forward to 30 years from today and not resolve the issue we have today,” said Khairy.

“Our country is not ready to face failure in the future,” he added.

TN50 was first mooted by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak at the tabling of Budget 2017 on Oct 21, 2016

TN50 aims to look at the future in mapping the direction of the country 30 years after 2020.
