"Jat, do not forget that women are very important. Take good care of women."

Those are the last words of advice given by the late Tan Sri Jamaluddin Jarjis, fondly known as JJ, to Wanita Umno chief Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil.

"He called me two hours before the crash and we talked for about 12 minutes. I never thought that would be the last conversation I would have with him," Shahrizat told Bernama after attending Jamaluddin's funeral at the National Mosque Mausoleum on Sunday.

Jamaluddin and five others were returning from Pekan, Pahang when the AS3655N2 Dauphin (9M-1GB) helicopter they were travelling in crashed in a rubber plantation in Semenyih, Selangor at 4.55 pm on Saturday.

The incident also claimed the lives of the Prime Minister's chief of staff Datuk Azlin Alias, pilot Capt Clifford William Fournier, operations assistant Aidana Baizieva, Jamaluddin's bodyguard Razakan B Seran and businessman Datuk Tan Huat Seang.

Shahrizat also described Jamaluddin as a true friend, who was close to her and her family.

She said Jamaluddin's last words were: "Ok, I'm going off." "I will never forget his kindness. We have known each other for not less than 30 years. Not only as politicians but as friends.

"He will surely be missed. Wanita Umno and I pray that his soul will be placed among pious Muslims," she added.

Shahrizat also extended condolences to all families of the victims.
