Sabah Parks is probing the spread of images of naked tourists allegedly taken on an island in Semporna.

Sabah Minister of Tourism, Culture and Environment Datuk Masidi Manjun said the images, believed taken in 2013 and early October, could not be verified.

"We don't know how many people posed naked. Sabah Parks has identified a Chinese tourist who may have taken them there. The tourists involved had left Sabah," he said after the convocation of Kolej Yayasan Sabah at Auditorium Tun Ahmad Raffae here today.

Masidi warned resort operators and travel agents to inform authorities if tourists committed lewd acts and violated local customs.

"We will revoke the licences of tourist guides who encouraged tourists to pose naked," he added.

Meanwhile, Sabah CID chief SAC Datuk Salehuddin Abdul Rahman said police had detained a Chinese man in connection with the naked images.

The 33 year-old suspect was remanded until Oct 25, he said in a statement.
