GEORGE TOWN: Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow today proposed that the State Legislative Assembly sitting slated for Nov 4 be held as scheduled before it is adjourned to make way for the 15th General Election (GE15).

He said he would bring forth the proposal at the State Executive Council meeting on Wednesday.

"The notice of the sitting on Nov 4 has been issued and I propose that the sitting be held with a question-and-answer session before it is adjourned to a later date, subject to the date of the polling.

"The next state assembly sitting, including the tabling of the state budget, should be postponed until after the GE15," he told a press conference here today.

Chow said this was also to enable civil servants and public agencies involved in the GE15 to focus on the tasks and not be disturbed by their assignments at the state assembly.

The Election Commission is expected to announce the dates for nomination and polling for the GE15 after its meeting on Oct 20.
