Three workers including the supervisor of a palm oil mill owned by a renowned farming company here, were
killed in an explosion in a section of the factory on Tuesday.

Hulu Terengganu police chief DSP Mohd Ismail Muslim, confirming the incident, said the victims were Azmi Abdullah, 57, a supervisor from Manir, and workers Pramod Kumar Ray, 30, and Sanjib Kumar Pasman, 26, from Nepal.

"Initial investigations revealed the explosion came from one of the machines which cooked oil palm fronds," he said.

A victim who sustained critical injuries was Mohd Razlan Mokhtar, 25, from Kuala Berang, while Ahmmed Ali, 39, Rezuyam Marom Ali, 45, from Bangladesh and Sabad Yedan, 44, from Nepal were lightly injured.

He said those injured were sent to the Hulu Terengganu Hospital for treatment and police were still investigating the actual cause of the incident.
