JOHOR BAHRU: Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Hasni Mohammad won the N53 Benut State Assembly seat in the Johor State Election (PRN) today with a majority of 5,859 votes.

The Johor Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman, who was facing a four-cornered contest, defeated three other candidates by polling 10,896 votes, compared to Perikatan Nasional (PN) candidate, Senator Datuk Isa Ab Hamid's 5,037.

Two other candidates, Pejuang’s Iskandar Noor Ibrahim and PKR’s, Haniff@Ghazali Hosman lost their deposits after obtaining 139 and 1,200 votes respectively.

In the 14th General Election (GE14), the seat was won by Hasni with 9,480 votes as opposed to Zulkifly Tasrep (PKR) who got 5,033 votes, while Mohd Firdaus Jaafar (Pas) obtained 2,590 votes.

Hasni won with a majority of 4,447 votes.
