KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia detected 2,093 new COVID-19 infections as of midnight Monday (June 20), bringing the overall total to 4,542,705 cases since the pandemic began in March 2020.

Currently there are 25,952 active infections in the country.

The Klang Valley leads in the new cases with Selangor reporting a total of 1,007, followed by Kuala Lumpur (444) and Negeri Sembilan (82).

Other states also reporting COVID-19 cases were Penang (155), Sabah (76), Johor (62), Perak (62), Melaka (58), Sarawak (34), Kedah (30), Pahang (23), Putrajaya (19), Kelantan (18) and Terengganu (14). Single digits were recorded in Perlis (8) and Labuan (1).

According to the Ministry of Health (MOH) there were 2,082 recoveries, taking the total number of recoveries in the country to 4,481,018.

Meanwhile, 985 COVID-19 patients have been admitted to hospital, with 23 of them in the intensive care units nationwide.

Malaysia has lost 35,735 people to the virus so far., with another three COVID-related deaths recorded on Monday.
