KUALA LUMPUR:Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein and his Indonesian counterpart, Retno Marsudi have reaffirmed the excellent relations between the two countries during the former’s visit to the republic.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a statement today said the discussion took place during the luncheon hosted by Retno to finalise preparations for the meeting between Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and Indonesia President Joko Widodo tomorrow.

“They discussed how the two countries could continue to work together to overcome the common challenges brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic, and encouraged further discussions on issues of mutual concerns between the officials of both sides,” it said.

Hishammuddin is visiting Jakarta, Indonesia from Feb 4 to 5 in conjunction with the official visit by the Prime Minister.

Tomorrow, Hishammuddin will accompany Muhyiddin to Istana Merdeka, Jakarta for the official visit and related programmes.
