TUMPAT: The Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industries (MAFI) gives its assurance that the supply of foodstuffs which are in high demand, is adequate and stable to meet the needs of the coming Ramadan.

Deputy Minister I Datuk Seri Ahmad Hamzah said MAFI has made early preparations to ensure all foodstuffs such as fish, chicken and meat are enough to meet demand during the period.

He said apart from domestic production, the government is also importing certain food items to ensure supplies would be adequate.

''We have gauged the actual demand compared to the existing stocks for Ramadan and especially when festive seasons are around the corner.

''So, we are assuring the people that food supplies will be adequate and stable,'' he said.

He was speaking to reporters at MAFI's Tumpat Fishermen Prihatin Programme at Tanjung Che Mas Fish Landing Jetty here, today.

Also present was MAFI Deputy Minister II, Datuk Che Abdullah Mat Nawi.
