KUALA LUMPUR: Any individual who has left UMNO can reapply if he wants to return to the party.

However, the individual cannot impose any conditions but instead accept all policies and other individuals who are in the party.

That is the clear message of the Chairman of the Barisan Nasional (BN) Advisory Board, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, to those who have left UMNO, including Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

"Anyone can apply to return to UMNO... but people like me, all of us, we are loyal to UMNO, we never left UMNO.

"Those who leave UMNO and want to return to UMNO can be considered.

"However, they cannot impose conditions, they have to accept that. If they want to join UMNO, then they have to accept UMNO's policy and accept anyone who is in UMNO.

"UMNO is a party that does not belong to any individual or even the party president, or the former party president, no!

“UMNO belongs to its three million members," he said in a special interview with Astro AWANI.

Earlier, Dr Mahathir laid a condition if anyone wanted him to return to the party he once led.

"Well, if UMNO adheres to its initial policy of fighting for the race, for the country, for the religion, I can return to UMNO.

“But with 'rogues' (still in the party), I cannot work with them," he said on the 'Together with Tun M ' programme hosted by Tokoh Wartawan Negara, Tan Sri Johan Jaaffar, on Wednesday.
