Menteri Besar of Selangor (MB), Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim said that he has met the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah to inform him of his intention of remaining in his post.

Khalid added that his intention has also been informed to the exco members.

“I have informed the Sultan of Selangor and exco members of my action,” said Khalid during a press conference held on Friday.

Speculations on his position as a menteri besar of Selangor began to spread in early February.

The resignation of Kajang assemblyman, Lee Chin Cheh and the decision made by PKR de-facto leader, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to contest for the Kajang seat only served to fuel the speculation on Khalid's position as an MB.

Last week, Khalid had announced that he will contest for the PKR deputy president post in the party’s election scheduled to be held in April.

Rumours suggested that his decision to contest served as a warning to the party leadership that he will not leave the state government.

Khalid also stressed that he will not sign a resignation letter even if he was forced to do so.

“No. I will not sign (if) a resignation letter reaches my office,” said Khalid.
