Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Seri Dr Salleh Said Keruak said it was incumbent on the Malaysian people to ensure that the country remained stable.

He said of late, outsiders had been using the social media and news portals to promote untruths to provoke hatred and distrust among the people towards the country's government and leaders.

"They want to create chaos in Malaysia. They have already done it in some countries. So we as Malaysians must ensure that our country remains stable.

"Doubtless that we have our differences in opinion, but surely all of us want our country to be stable.
"The time will come, in the election, when we can exercise our right. But don't listen to just one side. We must listen to all views," he said at a gathering with the ministry's workforce here at Kompleks Bersepadu KKMM, on Friday.

Salleh said issues such as the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) was sparked by outsiders through their news portal Sarawak Report, to diminish the image of the country's leaders.

"They hope that this would provoke dissatisfaction among the people and lead to protests against the government through demonstrations," he said.

He said the ill-intentioned agenda by the alleged culprits to topple the government through undemocratic means had begun to surface bit by bit, such as the tampered documents.

The minister also reminded the people not to lose their rational balance as to destabilise the country by allowing the government to be overthrown by force.
